We had too much fun helping to surprise Phil with Meghan’s baby announcement, we decided to go a second round with Meghan’s parents. We signed them up for a family session which allowed us to accomplish updating their family portrait. However the bigger goal was to catch them off guard and surprise them with the announcement that Meghan and Phil were expecting! Meghan did such a great job tying in personal details and a note which they will cherish for all the years ahead.

When Meghan first emailed me I was ecstatic to not only hear that she was pregnant, but that she wanted me to be in the surprise announcement to Phil. We started emailing back and forth, collaborating on different ideas. Meghan and Phil have always had a special place in my heart, ever since I photographed their wedding. To help them capture another major milestone is something I will cherish.
Fast forward to the announcement day. Meghan and I had plotted and schemed to get Phil there for an “anniversary session”. We started with a fun shoot, including their dog Maverick. We had boards for them to fill out and I asked each one of them to write what they love most about one another. They did this while standing back to back and when they turned around Phil showed his board first. Then Meghan showed hers and it said “Your going to be a daddy!” Phil’s reaction was priceless and one that I am so excited we were able to document. Scroll down to see how it all unfolded.
Of course Phil was in a bit of shock and pure joy at the same time. The entire shoot was full of tears and smiles. Once the announcement was made we had a series of fun shots planned. I love the photos of them on their bikes, it is a personal favorite. Can’t wait to capture Meghan’s growing bump and the milestones ahead.

On a cold and snowy afternoon I drove out to Elizabeth, Colorado for Chelsea’s maternity session in her home. Once I made it up their long snow filled driveway, I was greeted by their friendly cat and two sweet dogs. It is clear that these two veterinarians have a love for animals. They met in college and went onto specialize in becoming equine veterinarians. They are preparing to welcome their baby boy into this world, it was an honor to capture them during these fleeting moments in time. I can’t wait to photograph their baby boy for his newborn session.

I first photographed the Zimmerman family for their wedding in Copper Mountain. I have since photographed every milestone in their lives. This past year they added one more girl, Ruby, to their tribe. When Tara called me to schedule her maternity session I couldn’t wait for the day to arrive. They moved into a new house, which I thought would be the perfect back drop for our shoot. Watching their family grow from behind my lens has been incredible. I have seen their love for each other and their children expand exponentially. I can’t wait for Ruby’s newborn session!
It means the world to me when one of my wedding couples comes back to have me photograph their maternity and newborn portrait sessions. We decided to do their maternity session at their home in anticipation of their baby boys arrival.
